Coaches

MATTHEW MARKS: I grew up playing volleyball in Albuquerque, NM. I played varsity volleyball at Sandia High School for 4 years. I played county league, city league, and USVBA for several years. I traveled to Chicago to play in the AAU Junior Olympics for 3 years. At age 17, I was selected to play at the National Sports Festival in Baton Rouge, Louisiana where our team won the Gold Medal. I received a scholarship to play volleyball at The Ohio State University and went to the Final Four twice. I have coached AAU/USAV girls volleyball for the past 10 years, including all 3 of my daughters, Heather, Kristen and now Robyn.

JACK BARKER: I received my coaching endorsement from Central Michigan University, and have coached over 100 youth sports teams over the past 20 years. I am IMPACT trained USA Volleyball (based in Colorado Springs). I’ve been playing backyard and competitive volleyball my whole life. This is my 8th year of coaching travel volleyball. The entire 8 years I have been coaching we finished in the top 10 in the State Tournament. I’ve been married for 20 years to my wife Marnie, who is a school teacher in Rochester. I have 3 children, Haley, Bradley and Brendan. I have lived in the Clarkston area for over 20 years

COLLEEN HAYES: I have played volleyball since 7th grade, I was a 3 year varsity volleyball player. I enjoyed playing 6 years of club volleyball. I have coached Swartz Creek Volleyball and I am currently coaching for the Grand Blanc School District. In 2010 I coached a very successful 15 National team for SuperNOVA. I currently play competitive volleyball.

JIM SKINNER: I developed a passion for volleyball at a young age and have been playing competitive indoor and beach volleyball in the Midwest ever since. I have experience coaching other clubs in Genesee County and am looking forward to my first year at Supernova in 2011. I have four amazing children ranging from 18 to 9 years old. My two oldest daughters have found that same passion for volleyball and have been playing club and school ball for several years.

RACHEL HERMSEN: I have played volleyball since the 5th grade. I played JV and Varsity volleyball in high school and also played club volleyball at Central Michigan University for 2 years. Since leaving college, I have played in co-


Rebecca Tincknell: I started playing volleyball in 7th grade. I graduated from Troy High School where I was a 2 year varsity player and played 4 years of club volleyball. I played 4 years of varsity volleyball at Adrian College and finished my senior year with 2nd Team All-MIAA honors. I graduated with a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Mathematics with my secondary teaching certification. I have two years of club coaching experience as well as a varsity assistance position at Sand Creek High School this past season. I am very excited to be joining the SuperNOVA coaching staff and am looking forward to a great season!

CHERYL MCNEIL: I was an All State volleyball player in the Flint area and went on to play for Michigan Technological University with athletic and academic scholarships. After four years, I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and moved to this area for work. I have two children in the Clarkston schools (10th & 8th grade) and have continued to play competitive volleyball, currently in Romeo. This will be my third coaching season for SuperNOVA.

JEFF KINCAID: I've been playing competitive volleyball since 1987, and I've coached several years with SuperNOVA including SuperNOVA U14 State level Head Coach, assistant coach for SuperNOVA U17 and U13 and was also Junior High Club Team Coach. I've attended a Pat Powers volleyball clinic. Volleyball runs in my family. My two daughters played club, junior high, and high school volleyball, and my wife coaches freshman at Clarkston High.
